Ellen & Paddy sing Ella & Louis.
About us
Révélation of the Jazz Ascona Festival
The famous meeting between Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, as seen through the lens of charming Swedish singer Ellen Birath and dynamic Irish showman Paddy Sherlock.
A show full of complicity and humor between two charismatic performers.
We love our old jazz. We’ve both been fans of Ella and Louis for years. Jazz has greatly influenced our original songwriting for our respective bands.
In recent years, Paris has seen a trend of tribute bands playing the music of Louis Prima, Louis Jordan, Cab Calloway, and other renowned jazz musicians.
So, when in Rome, do as the Romans do... We decided to start our own tribute act.
We wanted our tribute band to be a little different—one that imitates and reproduces the real atmosphere created by the artists themselves.
The friendship and fun between two musicians.
We listened to the famous Ella and Louis album produced by Norman Granz for Verve Records in 1956, and we decided to take the leap and give it a try.
We know it’s a tall order, but between us, we think and hope we’ve captured some of their magic.
Something special happens on stage between the two of us, and people seem to love it.
We have so much fun singing and playing this music, and we hope to bring the same joy to you.
